We’re just a day away from Thanksgiving, and the news stations are reporting on how many of us are traveling this season.
Our infrastructure works pretty well during the holidays thanks to a number of dedicated employees…
On the road:
- There are transportation department workers who analyze traffic flow and patterns. If there’s snow, they’ll clear the roads.
- One worker who’s always on the job? The toll booth collector.
In the air:
- The staff on your flight will be working through the holidays, including the pilots, flight attendants and ground crew.
- There are thousands of workers inside the airport who will be helping passengers, as well as service workers who will be serving food to hungry travelers.
- Though many of us make travel arrangements for ourselves online, there’s still a need for the guidance and help of travel agents.
And there are millions more of us taking trains and buses. Trains run with a large crew, while thousands of buses need drivers to go to their destinations.
It can be very stressful when you’re making your way through long lines and spending hours on the road or in the air, but take a second today to take note of some of these workers – and say thanks.
