Or giving up some cash to spend more time with family is noble. But selling yourself short on salary for some perceived security is foolish. Security is a myth. Having been an observer to the dialogue surrounding several rounds of layoffs, I know most companies don't feel obligated to keep you employed. Hold out for what you're worth!
