I would definitely trade salary for job security. I am not being paid what I am worth right now, but I know I am employed here as long as there's a company. I am more and more grateful for that every day.

Trading some salary for a more enjoyable job is understandable. Or giving up some cash to spend more time with family is noble. But selling yourself short on salary for some perceived security is foolish. Security is a myth. Having been an observer to the dialogue surrounding several rounds of layoffs, I know most companies don't feel obligated to keep you employed. Hold out for what you're worth!
