Living paycheck to paycheck

CareerBuilder.com has released the results of a new survey today about workers and their paychecks. Almost half of the workers we surveyed (47 percent) said they always live paycheck to paycheck.
This is an increase from last year’s survey on this topic, when 43 percent indicated they were just barely making those ends meet. (Undoubtedly, the economic slowdown has had an impact in this area, as well as gas prices.)
Among the statistics we learned in this new survey:
- 42 percent of the employees surveyed said they would need an additional $500 a paycheck to live more comfortably.
- 14 percent said they must work multiple jobs (including part time jobs) to meet their monthly expenses.
- More female workers (54 percent) are living paycheck to paycheck than men (41 percent).
- A quarter of the workers survey set no money aside from their paycheck to establish or grow their savings.
