CareerBuilder.com launches new iPhone application!

The CareerBuilder icon is highlighted on an iPhone.

When your job is bad, it’s bad. So bad that you can’t wait until you get home to start searching for jobs in the safety of your own home. Now, thanks to CareerBuilder.com, you can start looking for jobs in the safety of your cell phone – er, iPhone.

CareerBuilder.com is launching a new iPhone application that enables you to search for a new job from wherever you are. Using the iPhone’s built-in geolocation technology, the CareerBuilder.com application automatically determines the city you are standing in and then allows you to find a job using a simple keyword search.

That’s right – when you’re sitting at your desk and don’t want your boss to know you’re on the hunt for a new gig, hit up your iPhone and get jobs sent straight to you. On vacation in sunny California and have a sudden urge never to go back where you came from? Look in your iPhone and you’ll receive a list of all applicable jobs nearby within moments.

The application comes at a good time. Despite current challenges in the job market, one-in-five workers said they plan to change jobs in the next 12 months, according to a recent CareerBuilder.com survey. Areas such as healthcare, IT, engineering, sales and marketing are still hiring in strong numbers and skilled workers are looking for bigger, better opportunities.

Now remember – you should still take the time to type up your resume and cover letter at home, on a normal size computer screen. But at least with this application, you’ll know what’s out there. You can bookmark your favorite jobs and come back to them when you’re ready to send in a serious application.
