Hello, everyone-
As our last post said, we’re holding a contest where we ask you to submit your questions based on that week’s topic. We’ll choose one person’s question to answer and then send him or her a copy of Career Building, which will bring you hours of joy for the rest of your life. It’s a contest that’s fun and informative — what more could you want?
This week’s topic is interviewing. We want to know what questions you have about interviewing. We’ll pick a unique question that we haven’t tackled before and that we think other job seekers or professionals are wondering about, too.

When they ask you about your greatest accomplishment/challenge. I may have a nice job title on my resume but I have basically been a data entry girl for 15 years. The reason I am looking for a new job is to be challenged. I always stumble on this one.

What do you do when the interviewer has asked you more than five times, “Do you have any more questions for me?” Assuming you already asked five relevant questions and they keep asking this, how long do you let this question game go on before you say no?

How do I explain that I really, honestly want to take less money than I am making now? It sounds insincere. I work from home for fed agencies in DC and get top DC wages. I see them once a month, develop a porgram and then have to let it go once its upa nd running. I would rather get a lot less money and work local for a great group. I am tired of being the expert to all the fed agencies and masters. I want to be at one place following my work all the way through and be part of the mission and team.
How do I say in my interview thank you letter, without sounding insincere or desperate, that the money is not the issue, the right team and commitment are more important?

Over the past ten years I have worked various contract jobs. My resume makes me look like a job hopper, reason being have been taking care of aging parents, those jobs provided more flexibility. I think it should be ok to answer that question with the truth, right?
Things ended realy badly at my last permanent job.It was not a good fit from the beginning. Believe me I had the supervisor from hades.
My question is how do I explain why I left during this terrible economy without giving notice

I would say that I don’t have ‘BIG’ disappointments. However I would discuss my view on daily things that did not go my way and that I learned to express my feelings without hurting somebody or being to emotional.
Also, a disappointment or a failure does not mean that you are a failure. You just did not succeed this time or I will weight next time if I should worry about this thing if its something not important in my life.
