15 companies hiring in July

July companiesWe know how many of you are looking for jobs these days. If it’s not you, then it’s a family member, a friend or a former colleague. We also know that it seems virtually impossible to find work when everybody you know wants a job and there seem to be few openings.

To help you out, we’ve reached out to companies who are definitely hiring in July to find out which jobs they’re looking to fill. We’ve also included a sample of some of their open positions and the corresponding locations.

What are they looking for? Education and experience requirements vary by industry and positions. Still, hard work and loyalty are common traits employers are looking for across all industries, especially in this economy.

Job seekers should be able to highlight some of their career accomplishments when applying for these jobs. Monetta Williams of lynda.com, a company that trains people on digital technology, wants to hire someone who will bring results.

“We are growing very quickly at lynda.com and are looking for bright, passionate and dedicated people who have clearly demonstrated initiative and success,” Williams says.

Likewise, Katie Bussan of wireless telecommunications company U.S. Cellular explains what employees should bring to the table.

“No matter what role you may have, we look for associates who are motivated, career-minded and enthusiastic about supporting each other in building the bonds of customer loyalty,” she says.

Companies that are hiring
You’ll notice that we’ve included companies of various sizes — some are hiring hundreds and others are hiring less than dozen. We wanted to include job openings in a variety of industries throughout the country because we know workers in every field are looking for work. Some prefer large organizations and others like a small company, so hopefully there’s something for everyone.

Wow that is a great list. These are top companies as well. Things like cell phones and car insurance are classified as a necessity now. That is probably why these companies are getting larger, thus need more employees.

I hope this list helps someone get a job.

  2. Frank Garvis | Jul 13, 2009 | Reply

Yes, there are companies who view this time as a key period to grow strategically. The list is thin in BA and system development postings though…

Cool! Fifteen more companies to apply to that, in reality, are only hiring “diversity”.

  5. Roman | Jul 14, 2009 | Reply

Perhaps it looks like a great list, but please notice that with the exception of Motorola there is not a single manufacturing company. The economy, currency strength, employment and the future of everyone is based on a strong manufacturing base. Unfortunately, we see less and less of it in our country. For the time being it may be a great list as it may be a temporary solution for a few of us lucky enough to get a job with these company, however if this list reflects our economy……

I checked on the list for Total Quality Logistics for jobs posted in the last 30 days…results = ZERO. Not sure what’s up with the links or the search, but if they’re hiring as the title of the article suggests, maybe some open positions should show up when you click on the links.

I’m bilingual in Spanish, athletically fit, hold a CDL with air brakes, combination and passenger along with 20 years handling money and exceptional math and verbal skills. And I’m over 50 which should make me an affirmative action choice for employers who have physical requirements. And I’m not even getting interviews – for taxi driver positions. I’m one of many very talented workers in this economy who don’t need much retraining with no where to go.

Well, it is a list of companies hiring, not sure about the coment about “diversity”…being a white male, I would have to wonder how many times I got a job over a woman or minority before I could lament about losing a job to only “diversity”. Mfg jobs have been out the window for 30yrs-these are at least somethig-and with some stable comapanies. It is very challening right now-especially being middle aged, when most hire from the bookends of age and experience..even being in the best economy in the US. Thanks for the heads up as these are still more opprotunities.

With 14.7 Million US workers unemployed, these companies jobs total just over 9,600, which, while laudable, represents a tiny fraction of what’s required to pull our country out of the hole it’s in. Not to mention whether they provide an income a family can survive on. Hell, my county alone has 27,000 people competing with me looking for work. However, I wish everyone the best in their search and I hope we all find what we’re looking for….

Be advised that if you leave AFLAC before your accounts pay for themselves, AFLAC will bill you for any income you received in your first year. AFLAC is a revolving door company; they are always looking to replace the ones that leave and are willing to take any big company from a new employee and the money that really should go to the person that brings the big company into the organization.

To all the america people that are looking for jobs, keep your head up. Do not give up on yourself; contiune to believe that things will start to get better for you. Too all ages 50s and over; you still can have a change to get that job that you want. I know companies are looking at the younger people; they see them as a fresh start, and they can pay them way below what they normally would pay people for their experiences and education. I tell you to speak positive and think positive. The bible say that life and death is in the power of the tongue. You can speak success in your life or you can curse your life with your own words. When you are looking for a job use words like; I will, I shall, I am optimistic. I pray for everyone who is looking for employment. I pray that everyone walk in faith. I know some people don’t beleive in faith, but I pray that you believe that things will start to get better. Please don’t look for politician to do the work, because they are one step out the doors themselves. You believe and keep the faith that God will move on man to do the right thing concering america.

What a lackluster role of companies and “opportunities”. These companies are always trolling for bodies to fill “non-jobs” such as commissioned salespeople and entry-level clerks. And there is no shortage of companies advertising job descriptions instead of open requisitions, simply to look as though there is some business activity at the office. Frankly, the list of recruiters and companies who are wasting the time of applicants with this atrocious practice is staggering. Many “Recruiters” who favor on-line job sites are simply “phishers” for personal info on resumes which they can sell to marketing firms and other scabs. Be safe and do NOT use recruiters; contact companies directly.

    Hi,
Another field of work that is nationwide is exterior inspections for homes that are in foreclosure, bk, or delinguents. To get hired you may have to get errors and omissions insurance and have basic office set up or you can work for someone else. Some companies may not need insurance. You can make alot of money if you are dedicated and know the geographic area. Good transportation and must be flexible. Husband has been doing it for over 15 years. You can get some of these companies name by going to vacant homes and see who has done maintenace work. I personally will not give out websites or company names.

Insurance jobs: if you don’t have any licenses, you study, take tests..$$$ is needed unless the employer helps…I’ve heard the insurance field isn’t high paying. Many of the other jobs listed require specific education, some in specialized fields. Dont have a 4 yr. degree. I’m over 50 also…
    it is challenging…

I am a 50+ living in Florida. I hold a BA, with triple major, highest honors, a 4.0 grad school cpa, and a JD with Bar admittance, as well as a Fla CAM license. No jobs for me out there, unless I want to sling coffee at Starbucks for $9.75 hour. I’m either too old, too educated or too experiences or inexperienced, but never the one for the job…not a REAL job, at any rate.

As for these companies, there are, as many have already said, always looking. As for the recruiters, they are so scared, they won’t even send out a resume unless they have deemed an applicant a near perfect fit. With the flood of resumes these days, all of them professionally done for key word scanning, the chance of even getting “seen” is slim.

Anyone longing for the old days?

I have found that despite my extensive background in manufacturing and power plant operations that I have always been able to fall back on my Certified Nursing Assistant skills in times of economic crises.

The pay is not the best, nor is it the worst, as it is equivalent to a basic mufacturing assembly line wage, but with excellent medical benefits at a reasonable copay. I currently make (with night shift differential) about $17 per hour and with overtime, I should gross about $52,000 this year….nothing to sneeze at, though you have to be willing to do anything the patient needs, including changing adult briefs and bathing people.

A good CNA education should be about 3-4 months in duration with full time involvement…as in a pre-nursing program at a technical school…this will provide enough theory and practical experience to allow you to work with a registry at first and get paid top dollar while building up your exposure to various medical environments.

Health care is one of the most secure and in demand careers..and age has nothing to do with being hired as long as you can physically perform.

Something to think about for those with families to support. Many agencies will sponsor for the training.

    Yours in Service.

Marsha, I believe in faith and I know that the Lord will make a way when there appears to be no way. We are trusting in the Lord regardless of our circumstances and standing firm on His promise that He will never leave us or forsake us. Thank you for edifying those who do not see a way out of their circumstances. I would also like to say to those who feel are at their lowest point in life, “When you feel your are at your lowest point in life this is the time when the Lord will bring you up as long as you keep the faith and believe that He will do it”.

NOW we see Capitalism at work.

    Think this is an anomaly?

Paraphrasing Adam Smith “In good times, wages will rise. It is crucial to keep wages down during these times, as it is difficult to lower them once bad times arrive”

This is how Capitalism was DESIGNED. The crashes are not accidents, they are part of the program.

So sit and stew, or ORGANIZE for an anti-Capitalist political force and no I don’t mean Obama the sellout.

I understand. I’m in FL also. I feel I’m in the same boat, just 13 years older. Try H&R Block. Take their course, work in a large office. You can apply for unemployment after the season is over around April 15th while applying for jobs. With your CPA you should be able to draw their highest pay. You can sign-up for their course on line (HRBLOCK.COM). Courses usually start around the first of September for 12 weeks (2 three hour classes per week).

There is a lot of DISCRIMINATION GOING ON IN THIS COUNTRY TOWARD THE OLDER WORKERS. It is your age and that is holding you back from a job or any job, here in this country they only want the young people. Qualification has nothing to do with it, now days very little. I have been working like a dog to find a job, to no avail.
So, I decided I am going to nursing school. If the federal government is going to get us in this garbage mess of an economy, then they can sure as well pay for my nursing school so that I can find a job.
Hint to all who are looking, consider career retraining.

Can careerbuilder.com – provide any statistics on how many individuals over the age of 50 they have either 1) Placed in position 2) Contacted for employment.

Why most positions are sales postions: If you look at the trends – Most companies have outsourced all the technical positions overseas, with the idea the US personnel would be used for sales –

With the unemployment statistics – How many mass-layoff jobs have been due to Technology companies sending the jobs overseas to avoid paying taxes in the US….

CEO’s are reaping the benefits by huge bonuses – and putting the US as risk – these are the Economic Terroists that will bring this country down, high number of unemployed will reap high criminal activity

Although, you are well intentioned, this really does not help. We need real jobs that pay a decent wage, not just temp jobs, selling jobs. We need jobs for the blue collar American- remember, the backbone of America. Also, white collar jobs now.
I love my country, but what has happened is a cancer called greed, without any regard for the worker. Corporations want it both ways. We need honest organized labor back in this country!
