50 years of Barbie’s careers

Today the world’s most popular doll Barbie turns 50, and it’s been a busy 50 years!
During her lifetime, Barbie has followed numerous career paths, from aerobics instructor to zoologist, inspiring many a young girl (and boy) to follow their dreams. Forbes even called her the “ultimate career woman.”
I am one of the millions of girls who was obsessed with Barbie and wanted to BE Barbie. My friend Kristy and I used to spend every weekend devoted to creating intricate lives for Barbie and her friends.
Of course, this included an endless array of careers. She could be a company VP on Saturday morning and a car mechanic in the afternoon; come Sunday, she could be a doctor by day and a pop star by night. She was – and is – a career chameleon.
