LOL: Comedy as a career

There are a lot of options for careers in the entertainment field, but one very specific career track is to work as a comedian.
It’s not an easy path, particularly if you’re working in stand-up comedy, where opportunities are limited and most gigs pay very little. According to this Reuters article, beginning comics can start with a salary as small as $20,000 a year, while experienced comics can generate six figures.
Some places to look if you have comic timing and a gift for performing:

- Consider going to school to refine your craft – there’s several major schools across the country, like the American Comedy Institute in New York City
