Unsung workers

Today is, of course, Election Day. Americans are selecting a new President, as well as several federal, state and local officials.

I wanted to take a moment to recognize workers that many of us never think about or acknowledge. These workers are the election workers who make our democratic voting process possible.

This workforce is made up almost entirely of volunteers, and these workers are dedicated to every election, not just the big, sexy, exciting presidential elections. They are just as focused, concerned and driven to make sure every vote counts when the most important elected seat is county dogcatcher.

So, if you’re standing in a long line today waiting to cast your vote, take a look at what’s happening around you, and who’s making it happen. And be sure to say “thanks” to the people who are working hard on our behalf!
