Giving the boss a report card

Many of us get an annual performance review. But few of us ever get to “review” our bosses.Wouldn’t you like to give your boss a report card on his or her performance?

In a CareerBuilder.com survey, more than 8,700 workers did just that.Here are some of the responses they gave us.

  • 73 percent of those surveyed were satisfied with the performance of their direct supervisor, but only 50 percent were satisfied with the performance of senior management.
  • Character was an area where many bosses scored high. 73 percent of workers said that their boss is trustworthy, 70 percent said that he or she was well respected and 65 percent indicated that there was good communication between boss and workers.
  • Employee development and guidance appears to be an area of improvement for bosses across the board. 51 percent of workers didn’t feel that their boss motivated them, while another 51 percent said he or she didn’t help them move ahead in their career. 41 percent said that they haven’t learned much from their boss.

Great Post! It's important that the review process is a two-way street.
An employee should feel it's OK to give their boss feedback as well as receiving it. This is a *relationship* after all. A lot of people don't see it that way, and therefore lose out on a golden opportunity to improve their work environment!
